We will be talking about how adversity and toxic stress impact children and their development. As leaders, you can help create a trauma-informed program that supports students who have experienced adversity. If you have completed your diploma recently, you might have taken a course on these topics, so this week will be more of a review. If you have been out of school for a while, this might not have been something that was taught but is an important part of creating a safe and supportive program for all children. The following video provides a concise overview of what trauma is and how it affects children. It also discusses what trauma-informed practice is, and how to create a trauma-informed environment.
